KTA calls for evacuation of students from Bangladesh

SRINAGAR: The Kashmir Trade Alliance (KTA) has issued an urgent appeal to India’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, requesting assistance in evacuating Kashmiri students and workers from Bangladesh amid reports of rising violence in the country.
KTA President Aijaz Shahdhar expressed deep concern over the situation, stating, “Hearing about the reports of violence in Bangladesh has left thousands of families worried whose children are either working or studying in Bangladesh. It is an hour of crisis there, we appeal to the Government of India to ensure the return of all students free of cost from Bangladesh.”
The trade body emphasized that the evacuation efforts should not be limited to students alone. Shahdhar noted that many Kashmiris have established businesses or found employment in Bangladesh, and these individuals should also be included in any evacuation plans.
The KTA’s statement highlighted the broader issue of educational infrastructure in Kashmir. Shahdhar suggested that the current crisis underscores the need for establishing private universities and medical colleges within the region. He argued that such institutions would reduce the necessity for Kashmiri students to seek higher education opportunities outside Jammu and Kashmir.
As the situation in Bangladesh continues to develop, the KTA urges swift action from Indian authorities to ensure the safety and return of Kashmiri nationals caught in the turmoil.
