Man electrocuted to death while repairing tube well in Pulwama

Father of two dies on spot after coming into contact with High Tension line

PULWAMA: A tragic incident unfolded in Ratnipora village of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Friday evening when Abdul Hamid Reshi (35), a resident of Ratnipora, was electrocuted while repairing a tube well in his field, resulting in his immediate demise.
According to local sources speaking to Kashmir Reader, Abdul Hamid Reshi, a father of two and employed as a tanker driver, was working in his field in Mirbagh area when the accident occurred. Reports indicate that while handling a rod, it accidentally came into contact with an overhead High Tension (HT) line passing through the area, leading to a fatal electric shock. He lost consciousness immediately after the incident.
Reshi was quickly rushed to the Primary Health Centre Kakapora, where doctors pronounced him dead upon arrival. Dr. Shahnawaz, Medical Officer at PHC Kakapora, confirmed the unfortunate demise of Abdul Hamid Reshi and stated that after completing necessary medical procedures, the body was handed over to his family for final rites.
Mushtaq Ahmad, Assistant Executive Engineer (AEE) of the concerned area, responded to queries regarding the cause of the accident. He mentioned that based on the Junior Engineer’s report, the incident occurred when Reshi was removing a pipe from the tube well, and inadvertently the pipe touched the overhead High Tension line, resulting in the fatal electrocution.
Ahmad urged people to exercise caution and take preventive measures to avoid such tragic accidents in the future.
The incident has left the community in shock and mourning the untimely loss of Abdul Hamid Reshi, who was known for his hard work and dedication to his family and profession.
