SRINAGAR: Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU), a premier institution of open and distance learning in India, on Friday announced the extension of the last date for admission to its various programmes for the ongoing academic session, effective immediately.
The university in a press release issued here said it is committed to democratizing higher education and expanding access to quality education for all.
The extension aims to provide an additional opportunity for potential learners who were unable to complete their admission formalities within the initially announced timeline. This applies to all certificate, diploma, undergraduate, postgraduate, and master programmes offered by IGNOU.
The university has introduced new innovative programmes in Open Distance Learning (ODL) mode for the July 2024 admission cycle, including MBA in Agribusiness Management, Health Care and Hospital Management, Construction Management, Logistics and Supply Chain Management, Rehabilitation Psychology, Fashion Design and Retail, and certificate programmes such as Event Management, Early Childhood Special Education Enabling Inclusion in Hearing Impairment, Visual Impairment, and Intellectual Disability.
Furthermore, IGNOU has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Rehabilitation Council of India to launch the PG in Rehabilitation Psychology programme throughout the country for the July 2024 admission cycle. The Composite Regional Centre Srinagar will be one of the study centres for this programme.
Additionally, the university is in the process of signing a Memorandum of Understanding with National Institute of Fashion Technology Srinagar to establish a Programme Study Centre for the Diploma in Fashion Design and Retail programme. Plans are also underway to establish study centres at Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Kashmir and Islamic University of Science and Technology, where agriculture and science-based programmes can be activated.

The last date for submitting application forms through online mode has been extended till July 31st, 2024. Prospective students are encouraged to take advantage of this extended deadline.
