DC Shopian, Secy Sports Council inspect key sports infrastructure projects in district

SRINAGAR: Deputy Commissioner Shopian along with Secretary Jammu and Kashmir Sports Council visited Dragad Village to instruct the Engineering team to expedite the development of a FIFA-Certified Football Turf.  On the occasion, the contractor has been given the deadline to complete the project by the end of this year.

The Deputy Commissioner lauded the district’s burgeoning sports culture, crediting the establishment of numerous coaching centers and the relentless efforts of the J&K Sports Council.

The Secretary also inspected the ongoing construction at the Indoor Stadium in Arhama Shopian, which is also slated for completion by year’s end.

The Secretary reaffirmed the Council’s dedication to providing excellent sports infrastructure and coaching, stating, “We are committed to offering the best facilities, top-quality coaching, and the implementation of the government’s pro-sports policies across every district in J&K.”

In a related event, the New JKSC Indoor Sports Complex at MA Stadium Jammu was alive with excitement as athletes from all over Jammu and Kashmir showcased their talents at the trials for the Cadet and Junior National Taekwondo Championships.

Under the supervision of Suraj Bhan, Judo Coach at JKSC, athletes competed for the chance to represent Team J&K in the upcoming 7th Cadet Kyorugi/Poomsae and 41st Junior National Taekwondo Championships.

The President of the J&K Taekwondo Association expressed gratitude to the J&K Sports Council for their support and congratulated all selected participants, wishing them success as they prepare to represent J&K at the Nationals.

A large number of athletes also participated in the second day of Open Selection trials for Junior Boys and Girls at the Mini Stadium Parade, Jammu and Polo Ground, Srinagar. The trials are being conducted by the J&K Sports Council under the guidance of expert football coaches in both divisions of J&K.

Additionally, the J&K Sports Council is proud to announce open selection trials for the Blue Cubs Development Centre. The AIFF has chosen the J&K Sports Council for the Blue Cubs grassroots development program.

Trials will be held on July 11, 2024, at 7:00 AM at Polo Ground Srinagar, and players born between January 1, 2013, and December 31, 2015, are encouraged to attend.

Divisional Sports Officer Central and Divisional Sports Officer Kashmir today declared open 21 days coaching camp for boys in Kabaddi at Sher I Kashmir Indoor Sports Complex Srinagar.

The players for the camp were selected through proper selection by the experts of Sports Council. Players appreciated the role of Sports Council for organising the camp.

The 3-days Inter battalion Badminton Championship organised by the 117 BN of Central Reserve Police Force CRPF in collaboration with Jammu and Kashmir Sports Council under My Youth My Pride programme commenced with colorful inauguration at Sher I Kashmir Indoor Sports Complex Srinagar.

On the 2nd day of the Championship as many as twelve matches were played in Single and double event.
