Adopt modern measures to prevent fire incidents: Mirwaiz to masjid committees

Greets Muslims on Mirwaiz on New Islamic Year 1446 AH

SRINAGAR: Mirwaiz-e-Kashmir Dr Moulvi Muhammad Umar Farooq has once again urged masjid management committees to adopt modern precautionary measures to protect these religious places from devastating incidents like fires.
During a visit to the affected area of Firdous Colony in Eidgah, Srinagar, where a local masjid and several residential houses were completely destroyed in a recent fire incident, Mirwaiz expressed his full solidarity and sympathy with the victims and the mosque management committee. He said this is the second consecutive tragic incident, following the Bohri Kadal incident, where the historic Bazar Masjid and local residential houses suffered severe damage.
Mirwaiz made a fervent appeal to the general public, especially the affluent and philanthropic individuals, to come forward and extend their full cooperation in the reconstruction of the mosque and the rehabilitation of the victims.
He emphasised the necessity of adopting precautionary measures to prevent fires and said that it is also the government’s responsibility to keep the relevant fire service department active in this regard as such incidents are occurring frequently in Srinagar city.
On this occasion, Mirwaiz expressed deep concern over the increasing trend of waywardness and drug addiction among the younger generation, considering it a matter of grave concern for the entire nation. He stated it is primarily the responsibility of parents, before teachers, to educate and train their children according to the teachings of Islam to keep them safe from bad influences.
Mirwaiz added that efforts are ongoing in this regard, and they are in contact with leaders of religious, Milli and social organisations to devise an effective strategy to counter this destructive situation.
Meanwhile, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq has extended heartfelt greetings and felicitations to the Muslim Ummah in general and the Muslims of Jammu & Kashmir in particular on the arrival of the new Islamic year – 1446 AH.
Mirwaiz said, “Every new year provides us with an opportunity to go for self-introspection and reflect upon what is happening around us and as such, we need to learn lessons from our past and strive for the betterment of our present and future.”
“We must also submit ourselves completely to the will of Allah (SWT), strengthen our bond with our Creator – Allah (SWT) and deepen our love and devotion with our beloved Prophet Muhammad (SAW) so that we as Ummah are able to discharge our religious and milli responsibilities in a much better way.”
It also expressed hope that the new Islamic year brings happiness, progress and prosperity for us.
Meanwhile, on the direction of Mirwaiz an extraordinary meeting of the Shia-Sunni Coordination Committee under the auspices of the Muttahida Majlis -e- Ulema Council has been called on July 8th at the historic Mirwaiz Manzil Rajouri Kadal .This significant gathering will include religious scholars , imams and representatives from from both the sects.
