Body of 17-yr-old Hajin youth retrieved from Jhelum

HAJIN: The body of the 17-year-old youth, Nadeem Zahoor, was tragically retrieved from the River Jhelum in the Hajin area of Bandipora district on Friday after a massive rescue operation by the Indian Navy’s MARCOS and other emergency services.
Nadeem drowned on Thursday while taking a bath in the river, prompting a swift response from the SDRF, Police, MARCOS, and 13RR, who launched a joint operation to locate the missing youth. “Despite their efforts until late evening on Thursday, the body remained elusive. However, early on Friday morning, MARCOS joined the search efforts and managed to retrieve the body around 11:30 am,” officials said.
Locals and family members have expressed their heartfelt gratitude to MARCOS for their tireless efforts to recover Nadeem’s body. The tragic loss has sent shockwaves through the community, with Nadeem being the only brother of two sisters. As his body was brought back home, women were seen mourning his death by beating their chests in grief.
The incident has left the community in mourning, with many paying tribute to Nadeem’s young life that was cut short in a tragic accident.
