PAMPORE: Bilal Ahmad Wani, a dedicated teacher at the Government Upper Primary School Jeevan Sahab in the Ladhoo area of the Education Zone Pampore, has been honoured with the prestigious Teacher of the Year award for District Pulwama.
Chief Education Officer (CEO) Pulwama, Abdul Qayoom Nadvi presented the award during a special ceremony organized by the education department.
The CEO admired Bilal Ahmad Wani’s contributions, stating, “I declare Bilal Ahmad Wani, a talented and dynamic teacher from Government Upper Primary School Jeevan Sahab, as a special teacher. He has been awarded Teacher of the Year for Pulwama district, and our office will issue a certificate of appreciation.”
The award acknowledges Wani’s exceptional dedication to his profession and his innovative teaching methods, which have significantly benefited his students and the broader community. His commitment to education and role as a mentor has made a lasting impact, meriting this well-deserved recognition.
In his remarks, CEO Pulwama highlighted Wani’s role in enhancing the school’s learning environment and fostering a sense of community involvement.
“Bilal Ahmad Wani is a highly esteemed teacher in our community and always actively participates in programs. I have seen his school before. The way he and his entire staff have come together to beautify and manage the school, and how they have mobilized the community to get involved in the school, is remarkable. They have not only increased the number of students but have also contributed to the school’s beauty. They have spent money out of their own pockets to decorate the school in the Jeevan Sahab area,” he said.
Mr Nadvi added, “This school is so beautifully maintained, and the way the students are being educated is commendable. We congratulate him and the entire team, especially Bilal Ahmad Wani. Often, the services of teachers go unnoticed, but even if a school is remote, it has never been out of our sight. In recognition of his contributions, we have declared him the Teacher of the Year.”
Speaking to Kashmir Reader, Bilal Ahmad Wani expressed his happiness upon being awarded the title of “Teacher of the Year”. He attributed this achievement to the teamwork and dedication of the staff, particularly mentioning UPS Jeewan Sahab.
“Our aim is to encourage students to engage in sports along with their studies, as emphasized in NEP 2020, which highlights the importance of co-curricular activities alongside academics. We believe that if students focus solely on books, their minds can become strained. Therefore, we regularly organize various programs to keep their interest in studies alive,” he said.
Bilal further said, “We have organized summer camps and trekking trips, and every Saturday afternoon, we take students on exposure visits to keep them happy and motivated. This approach has significantly reduced absenteeism compared to last year. Nowadays, students express a strong desire to stay in school, coming to school happily and willingly.”
I thank CEO Pulwama Abdul Qayoom Nadvi Sahib for considering me worthy of this recognition, which was announced during a function attended by many guests, Bilal added.
