J&K Bank, KCCI host interactive session with local exporters

SRINAGAR: Jammu & Kashmir Bank and The Kashmir Chamber of Commerce & Industry (KCCI) collaborated to host an Interactive Session with Local Exporters at SKICC on Tuesday, July 2, 2024. This session marked a significant milestone as it brought together senior officials from Jammu & Kashmir Bank, Customs, and ECGC, making it the first of its kind.
The event was chaired by Baldev Prakash, Managing Director of J&K Bank. Javed Tenga, President of KCCI, expressed his gratitude for the efforts that made the session possible. He specifically thanked MD J&K Bank, the Additional Commissioner Customs Mr. Joginder Singh, and senior ECGC officer Mr. Rahul Sharma for their personal attendance. Tenga acknowledged J&K Bank’s pivotal role in the state’s economic development, citing Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s recent praise for reducing NPA levels from 11% to 4.75%.
During the session, Tenga urged MD J&K Bank to announce an OTS Scheme without a cap and with an extended timeframe. He also highlighted challenges faced by exporters with J&K Bank, Customs Department, Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT), and ECGC.
In response, MD J&K Bank outlined ongoing efforts to improve services and facilities for account holders, emphasizing the crucial role of exports in achieving India’s 5 Trillion Dollar Economy goal. Additional Commissioner Customs, Joginder Singh, expressed satisfaction with the turnout of exporters and candidly acknowledged systemic issues affecting exporters. He assured stakeholders that these issues would be promptly addressed to facilitate smoother export processes.
Rahul Sharma from ECGC delivered a presentation on various ECGC schemes, enhancing exporters’ understanding of available financial protections.
A highlight of the session was the direct resolution of issues raised by exporters with J&K Bank, as MD/CEO J&K Bank issued immediate instructions to address most concerns on the spot. President KCCI concluded the session by thanking all participants for its success and announced plans to conduct similar discussions regularly in the future. The event underscored a collaborative effort to support and streamline export activities, ensuring continued growth and development in the region.
