DIO Pulwama praises journalists’ role in ‘connecting sports with mainstream society’

  

PULWAMA: In a significant event marking World Sports Journalists Day, the Department of Youth Services and Sports Pulwama, in collaboration with the district administration, organized a felicitation ceremony at Town Hall here on Tuesday.

The event aimed to honour the relentless efforts of the media fraternity in promoting sports and related activities within the district.

The event saw District Information Officer Pulwama, Wajeeza (JKAS), presiding as the chief guest, with Youth Services and Sports Officer of Pulwama, Mohammad Qasim Chowdhury, attending as the guest of honour.

The function was graced by several officials and officers from various departments, highlighting the importance of sports journalism in the district.

In their speeches, both Wajeeza and Mohammad Qasim Chowdhury lauded the media’s pivotal role in uplifting sports.

Mohammad Qasim Chowdhury expressed his gratitude, saying, “All the media personnel in our district are doing excellent work, especially by highlighting our sports activities on a large scale. I congratulate them and express my gratitude. I request them to continue promoting our sports activities so that the youth of the Pulwama district receive greater recognition and appreciation.

DIO Wajeeza echoed similar sentiments, commending the journalists for their dedication and contribution to connecting sports with mainstream society.

“On World Sports Journalists Day, I would like to congratulate our journalists who have chosen this field. Their role in connecting sports with our mainstream society and maintaining this connection is commendable. Recently, on Drug Abuse Day, we highlighted how sports can play a crucial role in combating drug abuse, and our journalist fraternity played a significant role in this. By linking sports with the youth and bringing their talent into the mainstream, our journalists are doing excellent work,” she remarked.

The event concluded with a felicitation ceremony where all media personnel present were honoured by DIO Pulwama and DYSSO Pulwama, recognizing their invaluable contributions to sports journalism in the district. This gesture not only acknowledged their past efforts but also encouraged them to continue their vital role in fostering a vibrant sports culture in Pulwama.
