Director SCERT visits DIET Budgam, lauds collaborative efforts, student achievements

SRINAGAR: In a significant development for Jammu and Kashmir’s education sector, the District Institute of Education and Training (DIET) Budgam has been designated as a DIET of Excellence for the next five years, alongside DIET Kulgam.
Prof. (Dr.) Parikshat Singh Manhas, Director of the State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT-JK), visited DIET Budgam to review ongoing projects and address concerns about the utilization of funds for upgrading the institute’s infrastructure. He was welcomed by Sanjay Pandita Principal and faculty members of DIET Budgam.
During the press brief, Director SCERT emphasized the importance of a complete workforce in achieving holistic development. He assured that the upcoming transfers within the education department would address the human resource needs of all DIETs equitably.
The Director commended DIET Budgam for its role in guiding students to participate in national and international projects. He highlighted the collaborative efforts of DIET faculty, teachers, Panchayati Raj Institutions (PRIs), and senior citizens in elevating the educational standards of District Budgam, as evidenced by students’ international achievements.
Prof. (Dr.) Parikshat Singh expressed gratitude to Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha for his keen interest in monitoring developmental trajectories across J&K and creating aspirational districts for holistic growth. He particularly praised the Lt. Governor’s focus on educational development and its impact on overall progress in the region.
A notable achievement celebrated during the visit was the recent patenting of multiple student designs from District Budgam by the Controller General of Patents, Designs, and Trademarks, Government of India. This accomplishment is seen as a significant boost to the entire student community in the district.
Emphasizing the importance of innovation and entrepreneurship, Prof. Manhas stated, “We are in an era where students should be job creators rather than job seekers. This skill is now being inculcated in our schools, and District Budgam is taking the lead, for which they deserve accolades.”
Director SCERT JK was accompanied by officials FROM SCERT Divisional Office Kashmir including Head of AUII SCERT-KD Mohammad Sultan Khan, and senior officers; Riyaz Ahmad Dar, Suresh Goria from central SCERT, and Gulzar Ahmad Dar, EPM&M SCERT-KD and Gh Nabi Sheikh from personnel section. This development underscores the commitment of J&K’s educational institutions to fostering innovation, excellence, and entrepreneurship among students, paving the way for a brighter future in the region.
