MARGAO: FC Goa announced on Saturday the signing of defender Muhammad Hammad for the upcoming Indian Super League (ISL) season.
The 26-year-old player, hailing from Srinagar, is set to debut in the ISL and becomes the first from Jammu & Kashmir to join FC Goa. While the financial specifics remain undisclosed, the club revealed he signed a multi-year contract.
Hammad commenced his senior career in 2015 with Lonestar Kashmir FC and moved to Real Kashmir FC after two seasons, where he helped secure the I-League 2nd Division title in the 2017-18 season. His defensive prowess also led Real Kashmir to the semi-finals of the Durand Cup in 2019. Last season, he won the ‘Jarnail Singh Award’ for ‘Best Defender’ and helped his team finish fifth in the I-League.
On his new opportunity, Hammad expressed, “I look forward to representing the Gaurs and making my mark in the ISL. This opportunity means a lot to me, and to be the first from my region to play for FC Goa is a proud moment.”
