SRINAGAR: In a successful operation, Kulgam Police apprehended a drug peddler and seized a significant quantity of contraband substance from his possession.
The incident transpired when a Police team from Police Station Yaripora, while conducting routine patrolling in Humshalibugh, intercepted an individual carrying a suspicious nylon bag. The individual has been identified as Karleep Singh, son of Bishan Dass, hailing from Bass Panchal Ramban.
Upon conducting a thorough search, law enforcement officials discovered 4.5 kilograms of Poppy Straw concealed within the bag. Consequently, Singh was promptly arrested and taken into custody at the police station.
In response to this illicit activity, authorities have initiated legal proceedings by registering a case under relevant sections of the law, as delineated in FIR No. 29/2024 at Police Station Yaripora.
“Community members are urged to collaborate with law enforcement agencies by providing any pertinent information regarding drug peddling activities within their vicinity. Individuals found complicit in such unlawful practices will be subject to stringent legal action in accordance with established protocols,” police said.
