Tourist killed, another injured after hit by speedy vehicle in Sonamarg

SONAMARG: A female tourist died and another person was injured after a speeding vehicle hit them at the tourist resort Sonamarg in central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district on Wednesday late evening.
Officials told Kashmir Reader that a Tata Mobile bearing number JK01T 0637 hit and injured two persons at Sonamarg. The injured were evacuated from the spot to PHC Sonamarg, where the doctors declared one among them as brought dead on arrival.
The deceased has been identified as 67-year-old Sushila, wife of Shankar Dhawale, a resident of Pune, Maharashtra. and the injured as Mehraj Ahmad Ganie, son of Mashooq Ahmad Gaine, a resident of Haril Handwara.
The injured person has been referred to SKIMS Soura and his condition is said to be critical.
Officials said a case has been registered in this regard for further investigations and the accused driver identified as Jaan Mohammad, a resident of Harwan, Srinagar has been arrested.
