PULWAMA: In a proactive move to tackle traffic violations, the Traffic Police, led by SSP Traffic Rural Kashmir Ravinder Pal Singh and DySP Traffic Pulwama-Shopian Dr. Mudasser Tramboo, conducted a specialized enforcement drive in the Tral area of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Saturday. The objective of the drive was to address prevalent issues such as overloading, overspeeding, reckless driving, and other visible offenses contributing to road safety concerns.
During the operation, a significant number of violators were issued challans for various offenses, including overloading by commercial vehicles, rash driving, and non-compliance with traffic regulations.
SSP Traffic Rural Kashmir RP Singh and DySP Tramboo personally engaged in on-the-spot counseling sessions with commercial drivers and commuters to raise awareness about road safety practices and the importance of adhering to traffic laws.
A Traffic Police officer informed Kashmir Reader that the drive, conducted on the Awantipora-Tral Axis, targeted multiple violations, including excess passengers, failure to wear seat belts and helmets, triple riding, unauthorized commercial use of private cars, absence of high-security registration plates (HSRP), and overspeeding.
SSP Traffic Rural Kashmir Ravinder Pal Singh urged drivers to prioritize the complete implementation of Motor Vehicle Act rules and regulations to ensure the safety of drivers, commuters, and the general public.
The primary focus of the drive was to reduce fatalities and accidents on the roads. Overloading in passenger vehicles was identified as a major contributing factor to accidents. In addition to addressing overloading, measures were taken to control overspeeding, rash, and negligent driving by penalizing violators under various provisions of the Motor Vehicles Act.
