After criticism, Municipal Committee Hajin conducts cleanliness drive

BANDIPORA: After facing criticism, the Municipal Committee Hajin took action by conducting a cleanliness drive along the River Jhelum on Friday.
Earlier, netizens had posted photos on social media depicting garbage and dead animals near the bridge.
Subsequently, MC Hajin swiftly initiated a massive cleanliness drive to remove the garbage from the Jhelum, aiming to maintain the cleanliness of water bodies. Tons of trash, waste, and deceased animals were removed from the flowing river during the drive. The accumulated garbage, mostly near the bridge and Pend Aab Boon, was also cleared from the riverbanks.
Speaking to Kashmir Reader, Executive Officer Hajin, Fayaz Ahmad, advised people living close to the river to refrain from throwing garbage into river. He warned that individuals caught throwing garbage into the river or dumping it on the riverbanks could face penalties.
Meanwhile, locals expressed gratitude to EO Hajin, Sanitary Inspector Hilal Ahmad, Khursheed Ahmad, and staff members for their efforts in keeping Hajin town neat and clean.
