YSS grants scholarships to student players of 66th & 67th National School Games

SRINAGAR: The Directorate of Youth Services and Sports (YSS), Jammu and Kashmir has announced the grant of Annual Sports Scholarships to commendable students and players who showcased remarkable talent and dedication at the 66th and 67th National School Games (NSG) during the financial years 2022-23 and 2023-24, respectively.
The decision, stemming from the Scholarship Committee’s meeting on January 30, 2024, reflects the Government’s unwavering support for youth development and sports excellence in the region.
66th NSG (2022-23): A total amount of Rs 5,47,500 has been sanctioned, benefiting 294 students/players, including medallists, who represented the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir at the national level. The scholarships were disbursed across various districts, with Jammu Division receiving Rs 3,94,000 and Kashmir Division receiving Rs. 1,53,500/-.
67th NSG (2023-24): A total amount of Rs 28,23,500 (Twenty-Eight Lac Twenty-Three Thousand Five Hundred) has been sanctioned, benefiting 1307 students/players, including medallists, who represented the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir at the national level. The scholarships were disbursed across various districts, with Jammu Division receiving Rs 15,88,250 and Kashmir Division receiving Rs 12,35,750.
The combined total scholarships disbursed for the 66th and 67th NSG amount to Rs 33,71,500 (Thirty-Three Lacs Seventeen Thousand Five Hundred Rupees only).
Recognizing the pivotal role of District Youth Services & Sports Officers, the Directorate authorizes the release of funds through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) mode, ensuring seamless and transparent disbursement to the deserving beneficiaries.
This initiative underscores the Government of Jammu and Kashmir’s commitment to nurturing sporting talent and fostering a culture of sportsmanship among the youth. The Directorate of Youth Services and Sports extends its heartfelt congratulations to all the scholarship recipients and wishes them continued success in their sporting endeavors.
