PULWAMA: In a significant development for healthcare infrastructure, Prime Minister Narendra Modi virtually inaugurated a 50-bed Critical Care Unit at the District Hospital in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Sunday.
PM Modi graced the occasion by virtually laying the foundation stone, marking a pivotal moment for healthcare in the region.
The inauguration of the foundation stone laying ceremony, organized by the Department of Health and Medical Education Jammu and Kashmir, highlighted the government’s commitment to bolstering healthcare facilities in Pulwama and surrounding areas. The newly established critical care unit is poised to enhance the hospital’s capacity to provide life-saving medical assistance to the local populace, officials told Kashmir Reader.
Attended by esteemed dignitaries, including Deputy Commissioner Pulwama, Dr. Basharat Qayoom, Chief Medical Officer Pulwama, Dr. Tahmina, DDC chairperson Abdul Bari Andrabi, alongside other officials, doctors, and health workers, emphasized a collective effort towards fostering a healthier future for the community.
Chief Medical Officer Pulwama Dr. Tahmina, expressing her enthusiasm, emphasized the transformative impact of the critical care unit on the local healthcare ecosystem. “This initiative is a boon for the people of Pulwama. With the establishment of the Critical Care Block equipped with cutting-edge technology and modern equipment, we are poised to significantly enhance our ability to handle emergency cases promptly and effectively,” she said.
The inauguration of the 50-bedded critical care unit signifies a crucial stride towards fortifying Pulwama’s healthcare system, aligning with the vision of accessible and quality healthcare for all.
Speaking to media persons, Dr Tahmina said, “It is great news for us that an additional block is being set up in Pulwama to build a 50-bedded critical care hospital. As part of this, we are planning to utilize the existing infrastructure and additionally, we will be constructing a lab at the back side of the hospital, which will be highly beneficial for the people of Pulwama district. Because this is the main hospital catering to the entire district, people from other districts will also benefit from our district hospital Pulwama.”
