Srinagar: The Divisional Commissioner (Div Com) Kashmir, Vijay Kumar Bidhuri along with IGP Kashmir, V K Birdi and Deputy Commissioner Srinagar Dr Bilal Mohi-ud-Din today visited Chattipatshahi Gurudwara Rainawari on the occasion of 358th Prakash Parv of tenth guru of Sikhism, Shri Guru Gobind Singh ji.
On the occasion, Div Com and other officers greeted followers of Sikhism and devotees who had visited in large numbers to Gurudwara to celebrate the birthday of Sikh Guru.
Addressing the devotees, Div Com prayed for communal harmony, brotherhood, peace and prosperity of the region and country.
On the occasion of Prakash Parv being celebrated today, the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Srinagar, Dr. Bilal Mohi-Ud-Din Bhat has extended his warm greetings to the people.
In his message, the DC greeted the Sikh Community on the 357th birth anniversary of tenth Sikh Guru, Shri Guru Gobind Singh Ji.
The DC expressed hope that Guru Gobind Singh Ji Jayanti would contribute towards strengthening brotherhood, unity, harmony and would be a harbinger of peace, progress and prosperity.
Meanwhile, the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Baramulla, Minga Sherpa on Wednesday paid a visit to Gurudwara Chatti Padshahi in Baramulla and extended warm greetings to the Sikh community on the auspicious occasion of Prakash Parv marking 357th birth anniversary of Guru Gobind Singh Ji.
On the occasion, the DC took first hand appraisal of the arrangements wherein Gurudwara Prabandhak Committee expressed satisfaction over the arrangements and conveyed their gratitude to the Deputy Commissioner in this regard.
Addressing the devotees, the DC highlighted the immense contributions of Shri Guru Gobind ji and the sacrifices of the Sikh community in defending the honour of the country. He said the tenth Guru was a great warrior, a spiritual guru and a prominent scholar who laid emphasis on social equality, universal brotherhood, altruism and social service.
While extending warm greetings on the auspicious occasion, the DC expressed hope that this event would contribute towards strengthening brotherhood, unity, harmony and would be a harbinger of peace, progress and prosperity.
He said teachings of Sikh Gurus promote social institutions such as the langar, sangat and kirtan as great levelers and unifying agencies.
He further said that the Guru dreamt of a society outside of the prevailing rituals and ethics, based on social equality and built on the ‘recognition of light of the divine in all beings in equal measure’. He mentioned that Guru Gobind Singh Ji was an accomplished poet and a philosopher and his works possess a sublime poetic beauty, which were later, compiled into the ‘Dasm Granth’, he added.
During the visit, DC also inspected stalls which were installed by different Banks in order to disseminate vital information about employment generation and other livelihood related schemes for the general public.
