Srinagar: Director Agriculture Kashmir, Chowdhury Mohammad Iqbal on Saturday inaugurated an awareness program for fertilizer distributors and dealers in South Kashmir at Townhall Bijbehara.
The program, organized by the law enforcement wing Anantnag, saw the presence of various dignitaries, including Chief Agriculture Officer Anantnag Ajaz Hussain Dar, Deputy Director Law Enforcement Mujtaba Yahya, Assistant Director Law Enforcement Srinagar Feroz Ahmad Shapoo, District Law Enforcement Officer South Sheikh Imran, District Law Enforcement Officer North Dr. Amarjeet Singh, and other officers, as well as fertilizer dealers and distributors from South Kashmir districts.
Addressing the event, Director Agriculture Kashmir, Chowdhury Mohammad Iqbal, reiterated the department’s commitment to upholding the interests of farmers. He urged fertilizer distributors to ensure the provision of genuine, quality fertilizers to the farming community in the region. Emphasizing zero tolerance for any violation of the fertilizer control order, he warned of legal action against those found in breach.
Chowdhury Mohammad Iqbal directed the enforcement wing officers to increase the frequency of visits by marketing checking squads to ensure that only quality fertilizers reach consumers. He stressed the importance of a coordinated approach among stakeholders to safeguard the economic interests of the farming community. Highlighting the economic and environmental implications of poor-quality fertilizers, he called for collaboration between the department and fertilizer distributors for the well-being of the farming community.
During the interaction with fertilizer distributors, the Director Agriculture assured them of his full support and cooperation in their efforts for the benefit of farmers. The awareness program aimed to enhance understanding and compliance with quality standards in the distribution of fertilizers, contributing to the overall welfare of the agricultural sector in the region.
