J&K Blind Cricket Team clinches victory in Triangle T20 Cricket Series in Punjab

All-rounder Irfan Ahmad Mir shines with unprecedented success

Pampore: The Jammu and Kashmir Blind Cricket Team celebrated success at the Triangular T20 Cricket Series for the Blind in Hoshiarpur, Punjab. Competing against strong teams from Chandigarh and Punjab, Jammu and Kashmir demonstrated exceptional skills, securing the championship trophy by 7 runs.
Their previous accomplishment in the Nagesh Trophy, where they qualified in the top 10 of Group E, further highlights their remarkable talent.
The all-rounder from the J&K Blind Cricket Team Irfan Ahmad Mir, Informed Kashmir Reader that the tournament took place in Hoshiarpur, Punjab, from December 8th to 10th. Three teams, including Chandigarh, Punjab, and Jammu Kashmir, participated in the Championship.
Jammu and Kashmir emerged victorious in all three matches, defeating Chandigarh and Punjab, and clinched the T20 cricket tournament for the blind, establishing their dominance in the triangular series by 7 runs.
Speaking with Kashmir Reader, Mir said, “Before this, our team participated in the Nagesh Trophy at Jammu University from November 23rd to 25th. Following the format of the Ranji Trophy, the tournament was held in Jammu, featuring teams from Railway, Goa, Punjab, and us. We topped Group E in the competition, advancing to the knockout stage, where we secured a place in the top 10. Now, we are geared up to play in the knockout stages in January. These achievements are a result of the excellent performance by all players, leading to our victory.”
If we look at mainstream cricket in Jammu and Kashmir, their achievements are almost nonexistent; their accomplishments are not recognized or highlighted anywhere, Irfan said, adding, “We don’t have any sponsorship. We go to play these tournaments by contributing our own money.”
