Massive crackdown against traffic violation in Budgam

15 vehicles, including govt buses, seized

Pampore: In a concerted effort to curb traffic violations, the Traffic Police, under the leadership of SSP Traffic Rural Kashmir Ravinder Pal Singh, conducted a special drive in Budgam district. The drive, which aimed to address issues such as overloading, overspeeding, reckless driving, and other visible offenses, involved officials including DySP Traffic Budgam and DTI Budgam.
Traffic Police officials informed Kashmir Reader that the massive drive targeted violators engaged in overloading and various offenses in the Budgam area. A total of 15 vehicles, including government buses, were seized and booked under the provisions of the Motor Vehicle Act for different violations.
The primary focus of the drive was on combating overloading of passengers, with zero tolerance for such violations. The commitment to enforcing traffic rules was evident in these extensive drives, which are being carried out across all rural districts of Kashmir.
SSP Traffic Rural Kashmir R.P Singh informed Kashmir Reader that the drive resulted in the seizure of 15 vehicles, including some RTC buses and a Tata mobile carrying an over-height load with pipes. Motorcycles and scooters engaged in triple riding were also among the vehicles seized.
Looking ahead, SSP Traffic Rural Kashmir R.P Singh emphasized that future drives would target violators not wearing seat belts, using mobile phones while driving, and other traffic violations. He urged all commuters and motorcyclists to responsibly wear helmets and use seat belts, emphasizing that strict action would be taken against violators.
SSP Traffic Rural Kashmir R.P Singh also issued a plea to parents, urging them not to allow their children to operate two-wheelers and four-wheelers without a valid driver’s license. Disregarding this advice may result in legal consequences, including being booked under relevant provisions and potential imprisonment, he warned. The efforts underscore the commitment to minimizing accidents and fatalities on the roads through strict enforcement of traffic rules and regulations.
