Concerted plan for spearheading innovation, entrepreneurship to be adopted: VC IUST

Awantipora: Vice Chancellor IUST Prof. Shakil A Romshoo on Thursday chaired the review meeting of the Centre of Entrepreneurship Development Cell in which the working of the different verticals was assessed and future course of action deliberated upon.
Prof. Romshoo commended the Director CIED and his team for the efforts and accomplishments, particularly for the 4-star ranking awarded by Government of India’s Institution Innovation Council (IIC) for nurturing innovation, entrepreneurial ecosystem, and capacity building of the youth. He said that CIED has evolved as a model for others to follow and its achievement underscore the university’s commitment towards excellence and innovative practices. He emphasized on the participants for devising a concerted plan for promotion of Innovation and entrepreneurship in promising areas of science and technology with high employability prospects going forward in the future. He said that under the aegis of CIED aspiring entrepreneurs can be considered for the Seed Capital Support of up to rupees 50 lakhs and said that the efforts of the CIED in bridging the gap between Industry and Academia are well acknowledged.
He also said that IUST will shortly roll out the Swavalamban Skill to Enterprise Model (STEM) I-year Diploma Course, designed to provide valuable support to aspiring entrepreneurs in Jammu and Kashmir and neighbouring states.
Speaking at the meeting, Prof. A. H. Moon, Dean Academic Affairs said that IUST places equal emphasis on Academics and innovation. He said that our Course Curricula are framed with inputs from Industry experts, recognizing the importance of creating Industry ready humanresource. He stressed the significance of fostering a culture that encourages creative thinking and innovative actions among the student body, and stressed on the need to devise a roadmap that propels us to the next stage of excellence.
Dr. Pervez Ahmad Mir thanked the Vice chancellor for his support and guidance and said that CIED has put in place a framework aligned with University’s mission of spearheading innovation and entrepreneurship among the youth.
