Sher-e-Kashmir’s struggle is an open book: ANC Chief

Srinagar: Begum Khalida Shah, Awami National Conference President and eldest daughter of Sher-e- Kashmir Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah paid floral tributes to her father on his 118th birth anniversary.
In a statement, Begum Khalida said, “Sher-e-Kashmir’s struggle is an open book and he will always be remembered as a leader, teacher, guide, friend and philosopher for his contributions in taking the common masses out of abject poverty and subjugation after hundreds of years. Be it the land to tiller, free education, emancipation of women, setting up of universities in Jammu and Kashmir, laying of infrastructure for roads, hospitals, education centers with all round developmental programmes for all the three regions of the state. There is no parallel to such contributions from a leader for his people.”
The ANC President added, “The BJP and RSS are hell-bent to change the demographic character of Jammu and Kashmir and the drama of abrogation of Article 370 and 35 A was the first step towards that goal conceived by the erstwhile Jana -Sang, now the RSS. The massive majority of Jammu Kashmir and Ladakh division will never accept this unilateral decision implemented through the barrel of the gun and gross violation of the Constitution of J&K state and the Constitution of India.”.
“It was our job to ensure that the decision to abolish Article 370 and 35 A is revoked and the unfinished task of Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah for a just and fair solution of the Kashmir issue is realized and the aspirations of the people of Jammu and Kashmir are treated as paramount importance,” she added.
According to the statement, floral tributes are being paid by ANC in all district headquarters under their District Presidents in the valley, Jammu and Kargil/Ladakh.
