SKUAST-K organises free animal nutrition distribution for Bandipora, Budgam farmers

Srinagar: Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Kashmir organised Multi-nutrient Block (MNB) Distribution and awareness programs for livestock farmers of district Budgam and Bandipora.
The programs were organised by the SKUAST-K’s Division of Animal Nutrition, Faculty of Veterinary Sciences in collaboration with Krishi Vigyan Kendras of Budgam and Bandipora under the National Livestock Mission of the Department of Animal Husbandry & Dairying, Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry & Dairying, Govt. of India funded project ‘Sustainable Livelihood Improvement of Resource Poor Farmers through Livestock Productivity Augmentation by Standardization and Popularization of Value-Added Animal Feed Supplements in Kashmir Himalayas’. The programs aimed at the creation of awareness among livestock farmers about the animal feed supplement in the form of multi-nutrient blocks. Multi-nutrient blocks prepared by the Animal Nutrition Division under the said project were also distributed on the occasions free of cost among the fifty livestock farmers of each district. Prof Arshad Ahmad Mughal, Associate Director, Research, Directorate of Research was the chief guest of the event held at KVK-Budgam and Prof Purshotam Singh, Directorate of Extension, was the chief guest of the event held at KVK-Bandipora. Head of the Division, Prof. Abdul Majeed Ganai highlighted the activities of the Division. Dr Yasir Afzal Beigh, Principal Investigator of the project gave detailed lectures on the importance, use, feeding schedule and precautionary measures to be taken while feeding MNB. Heads of KVK Budgam and KVK Bandipora thanked the Division of Animal Nutrition for their active participation in addressing the farmers’ issues.
