Idara Auqaf Pampore re-elects leadership, Adv Maqbool Shah retains president position

Pampore: Idara Auqaf Islamia Trust Pampore conducted elections for its new body, resulting in the re-election of Adv Mohammad Maqbool Shah as the President and Haji Mohammad Shafi Basu as the Vice President for the next two years.
The election, held at Khankah-e-Moula Pampore, witnessed active participation from senior members of the Auqaf Committee and other dignitaries. Under the supervision of Patron Auqaf Mirwaiz Moulana Riyaz Ahmad Hamdani, the electoral process saw several members from the previous committee securing their positions for the upcoming term.
Haji Mohammad Shafi Basu and Adv Ajaz Ahmad Khan served as election officers, and Jan Mohammad Sheikh was assigned the role of Election Assistant, as per Auqaf Committee officials.
The newly elected leadership team includes Adv Mohammad Maqbool Shah as President, Haji Mohammad Shafi Basu as Vice President, Abdul Satar Laway as Second Vice President, Mohammad Sultan Shah as Secretary General, Ghulam Mohammad Shah as Secretary Baitul Maal, Jan Mohammad Sheikh as Secretary Publicity, Moulvi Manzoor Ahmad Dar as Secretary Tableeg, Haji Ghulam Ahmad Bhat as Secretary Finance, Ali Jan Qadri as Secretary Health, Maqsood Ahmad Dar as Secretary Construction, Mukhtar Ahmad Tantray as Secretary Head Quarter, and Adv. Aijaz Ahmad Khan as Secretary Education, among others.
The elections, conducted every two years, witnessed the re-election of a majority of members, ensuring continuity in leadership roles. The elected members are set to serve their respective posts for the next two years, contributing to the continued functioning and initiatives of Idara Auqaf Pampore.
After the results were declared, Mirwaiz Moulana Riyaz Hamdani conveyed heartfelt congratulations to the triumphant candidates. The gracious gesture emphasized unity and goodwill, marking a positive start for the incoming leadership.
The elected President, Vice President and other members were honored with garlands by the Auqaf Committee members, creating a ceremonial atmosphere that underscored the significance of their roles within the community.
Speaking to Kashmir Reader, Auqaf President Mohammad Maqbool Shah said that the elections, held after a two-year gap, saw active participation from around 80 percent of the Auqaf Committee members. Candidates for certain positions secured victory uncontested, while others underwent voting through paper ballots using the belt system.
The Idara Auqaf Islamia Trust Pampore consists of various positions, each under a specific secretary, such as the Secretary of Healthcare, Baitulmal, Tameer Finance, Tableeg, and others. The elections for each post reflected a boost in morale and determination among the elected secretaries. Moulana Hamdani, serving as the patron of the Auqaf Committee Pampore, oversaw the elections, ensuring a credible and transparent process.
