Two UP residents die in road accident in Awantipora

Awantipora: Two non-locals lost their lives in a fatal road accident on the Srinagar-Jammu National Highway near Awantipora in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Sunday morning.
Police officials confirmed that two individuals from Uttar Pradesh lost their lives after being hit by a Xylo vehicle with registration number JK18-3434 in Awantipora. The victims, identified as Mohammad Aashiq and Mohammad Shahid, were critically injured and immediately taken to a nearby hospital, where both succumbed to their injuries.
The accident occurred at Checkoot Awantipora when a vehicle hit the two non-locals, resulting in serious injuries. Police rushed to the spot and transported the injured persons to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared them dead. The deceased were sent for postmortem in Sub District Hospital Pampore. The driver of the vehicle involved in the accident has been arrested, and the vehicle seized.
Awantipora police has registered a case under relevant sections of the law and initiated an investigation into the incident.
