CUK’s DRS holds lecture on ‘Study of Religions’

Ganderbal: The Department of Religious Studies, Central University of Kashmir (CUK) organised an extension lecture on “A Study of Religions: A New Orientation (with reference to Islamic Studies)” by the noted academician Prof. Hamidullah Marazi, former Director, International Centre for Spiritual Studies, IUST, Awantipora.
Deptt Coordinator, Dr. M. Zafar, introduced the speaker and shared light on his contribution in the fields of Islamic Studies, Comparative Religion, Philosophy and History.
Prof. Rafiabadi spoke at length about the modern trends in the field of the study of Religion in which he compared the methodologies of the West and the East. He encouraged social-scientists to think in line with the Eastern paradigms and encouraged oriental dialogue among religions.
Dr. Showkat Ahmad Shah, conducted the proceedings and Asst Prof. Dr Harpal Singh, presented vote of thanks. The lecture was attended by the faculty members, research scholars and students of the department. The lecture was followed by the question answer session in which different issues were raised by the audience which were addressed by the learned speaker.
