Sadia Tariq felicitates cricket students from South Kashmir
Pulwama: In order to give a boost and upliftment to the girls of South Kashmir, Army’s 44RR, in collaboration with 12 sector RR organised women’s cricket from November 15 in which more than 8 teams participated.
The final was held on Monday and was attended by the Commander 12 sector RR and SSP Shopian Tanushree besides all officers from 44RR at the sports stadium Shopian.
The league was organised in order to give an idea that girls can compete at all levels in different games who wish to present their country at national as well as international levels in cricket games.
The girls were very happy as this was the first time they (Army) organised such a women’s cricket league for South Kashmir girls, especially in Shopian which is considered as a hot belt of militancy and other things.
On the occasion, SSP Shopian Tanushree said that girls can compete at any level with men and the district has much talent as well as South Kashmir girls. “Play the game and play it well is the oldest slogan which we witness today here in Shopian sports stadium,” the SSP said.
Commander 12 sector RR GK Desai said that the army is always coming forward for the upliftment of women and gave them a way to choose their fields in different categories. He further said that they will organise more games in future for girls of South Kashmir in Shopian.
Two-time international Wushu player Sadia Tariq and Abida were also present on the occasion. They gave their wishes to these girls who played cricket and wanted to represent international as well as national level games.
