CCIK patron Mushtaq Chaya expresses grief over loss of lives in Dal Lake fire

Demands compensation, rehabilitation of affected houseboat owners

Srinagar: The Associated Chamber of Commerce and Industry Kashmir (CCIK) Patron Mushtaq Ahmad Chaya on Sunday expressed profound grief over the loss of three lives in the devastating fire that destroyed at least five houseboats and six residential huts at Srinagar’s Dal Lake early morning on Saturday.
In his statement, Mushtaq Chaya, while expressing his sorrow over the incident, said, “My heart goes out to the families who suffered huge losses in the fire incident that erupted in the wee hours today. One can imagine the pain and agony that the victim’s families must be experiencing at this time.”
Meanwhile, President CCIK Tariq Rashid Ghani with Office Bearers visited the affected houseboats owners at Dal Lake and assured full support to the houseboats owners. He assured that immediate compensation and rehabilitation would be taken up with the higher authorities.
Mushtaq Chaya has also appealed to the LG Administration to visit the gutted Houseboats and take a comprehensive assessment of the losses suffered.
All the members of CCIK stand with the affected families in this hour of their grief and appeal to the LG Administration for immediate compensation, and issue permissions on a priority basis for the reconstruction of these gutted houseboats at the earliest, the CCIK statement said.
