ADC Awantipora, Tehsildar Pampore visit Pandit families, extend Diwali greetings

Pampore: In a heartwarming display of communal unity, Additional Deputy Commissioner Awantipora, Zaffar Husson Shawl and Tehsildar Pampore, Zuber Ahmad Bhat, accompanied by their team and local residents visited the residences of local Pandits in Tehsil Pampore area of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Sunday. The officials took the opportunity to convey warm Diwali greetings to the Pandit community, spreading joy and fostering a sense of togetherness.
During the visit, the ADC Awantipora and Tehsildar Pampore distributed sweets among the Pandit families and extended hearty congratulations and best wishes to the pandit families of Pampore, officials told Kashmir Reader. The pandit families thanked them as well as the locals for a “good gesture” towards them.
Zaffar and Zuber assured the KPs of full support and told them to contact the local administration if they face any inconvenience and need intervention by the authorities.
Speaking to Kashmir Reader, Sunil Kumar Pandita conveyed the importance of the day as they observe the festival of Diwali. He said that both Muslim neighbours and officials from the district administration extended heartfelt greetings, marking a tradition they have been celebrating for a long time.
“Our Muslim neighbours play a pivotal role in this celebration. They come to our homes on this day, extend warm wishes, treat us kindly, and actively participate in cooperative efforts. We, in turn, also celebrate in a very positive and welcoming manner,” he said.
Pandita said that on Diwali, they celebrate by lighting lamps, exchanging sweets, and creating a delightful atmosphere. “The crucial role played by neighbours is evident as officers from the administration visited our home,” he said.
He also prayed for continued peace and prosperity not only in Jammu and Kashmir but throughout the entire country, hoping for joyous celebrations in the days to come.
