Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir Awami Action Committee (AAC) Chairman Mirwaiz Dr Moulvi Muhammad Umar Farooq paid rich tributes to the leading religious scholar, political and social leader, preacher and orator of J&K, Late Moulana Muhammad Abbas Ansari on his first death anniversary.
Mirwaiz said that Moulana Abbas Ansari belonged to a family that has a history of close ties with the Mirwaizeen and shared a close and warm relationship with him and his late father Mirwaiz Moulvi Muhammad Farooq.
“Abbas Sahab was a mentor to me. When I became the Mirwaiz at the early age of 17, and like a father figure, he guided me in political and diplomatic matters and always stood by me and gave me valuable advice and encouragement at every stage,” Mirwaiz said, adding that the late leader was a man of principles and far-sighted as a political leader, and a distinguished religious scholar, preacher and writer.
Commenting upon the deceased leader, the AAC chief said, “Apart from being a prominent religious scholar and speaker, Moulana Ansari is also known as an advocate of unity among Muslims in Kashmir. The sacrifices he made for communal harmony and mutual brotherhood and milli unity will always be remembered forever. With the passing away of Moulana Abbas Ansari, Kashmiri people lost a visionary and committed leader and this loss cannot be filled for a long time.”
