Bandipora: To mark 75 years of India’s Independence under the ‘Meri Maati Mera Desh’ campaign, the Municipal Committee (MC) Hajin Thursday organised ‘Amrit Kalash Yatra’ at Hajin.
The Chairman MC Irshad Ahmad Wani flagged off the yatra in the presence of Executive Officer Firdous Ahmad, municipal councillor, and local residents. During the Yatra soil, rice was collected in Amrit Kalash from every ward. Amrit Kalash was later transported to the district headquarters in Bandipora.
On the occasion, Chairman MC Hajin said that Amrit Kalash Yatra is a heartfelt tribute to the sacrifices made by the valiant soldiers and citizens who have contributed to India’s independence and security. He informed that during the Yatra; soil besides rice was collected from every ward in town Hajin.
