Water sports gaining popularity in Kashmir with each passing day: JD YSS
Srinagar: The Youth Services & Sports Department’s Inter-School district level selection trials in swimming for boys of different age groups was inaugurated by Joint Director Kashmir of the Department on Monday here. Hundreds of youth from different Government and Private Schools of District Srinagar participated in the trials on the first day. The trials shall continue till 20th of the current month at Nehru Park Srinagar. A contingent of girl students shall also participate in the trials of the sport on the concluding day of the camp.
JD Kashmir Waseem Raja while sharing his good wishes with the participants of the activity assured that the Department would put in all the possible efforts to involve maximum number of youngsters in various activities of water sports in coming days.
“Great for fitness and fun, research shows water sports have a visible impact on mental and physical wellbeing of a person. Water sports is gaining popularity in Kashmir with each passing day and with the efforts of YSS and J&K Sports Council our youth are shining in the sport not only at the National level but at Inter National level as well,” he said.
In his thanksgiving note, Raja appreciated In-charge Water Sports Excellence Centre Nehru Park Bilquees Mir and her team for being a helping hand in organizing the camp in the most proficient manner. The JD YSS and other officers paid a visit to different sections of Water Sports Excellence Centre at Nehru Park and expressed happiness over the establishment of such a great and state of the art facility.
District Youth Services & Sports Officer Srinagar Ghulam Hassan Lone and other senior officers of the Department were also accompanying the chief guest on this occasion.
