SSP Awantipora distributes sewing machines among needy

Participants appreciate role of J&K Police

Awantipora: Awantipora Police distributed 24 sewing machines along with other accessories among the needy people here at District Police Lines on Wednesday.
Senior Superintendent of Police Awantipora Ajaz Ahmad Zargar inaugurated the event while SP DAR Hilal Khaliq Bhat and SDPO Awantipora Mumtaz Ali Bhatti were present on the occasion.
Under its, Civic Action Programme (CAP), police organised the 10-day tailoring course for women of the economically weaker section (EWS) of Awantipora.
SSP Awantipora Ajaz Ahmad Zargar distributed 24 sewing machines along with other accessories among the needy and unemployed ladies at DPL Awantipora after completion of the basic training course at the welfare centre here.
The aim of distributing these sewing machines by Awantipora Police was to give opportunity to needy women for self-employment to earn their livelihood, police officials told Kashmir Reader.
While speaking on the occasion, the police officials highlighted various initiatives taken by the police under its Civic Action Programme involving the community as a whole and youth in particular by providing different platforms as per the skills.
SSP Awantipora while interacting with the beneficiaries assured them of all support from the police department in order to make their lives easy and comfortable. He advised the police officers and jawans to show empathy and kindness towards the needy segment of society and come forward with a helping hand. He also asked the beneficiaries not to allow their social hindrances to come in their way and to stay active in their lives in pursuit of their goals.
The participants ladies highly appreciated the role of J&K Police for arranging such programmes for the betterment of needy people besides providing a platform to them.
