Pampore: Government Degree College (GDC) Pampore was abuzz with excitement as it hosted a vibrant celebration marking Digital Week on its campus. The event, organized by the Debates and Seminar Committee of the college, witnessed an array of esteemed guests and engaging activities.
The event’s chief guest, SSP Awantipora Ajaz Ahmad Zargar, along with Principal GDC Pampore, Prof. Dr. Huda Galzai, SDPO Pampore, Krishan Rattan, and SHO Pampore, Jazib Mohammad Bhat, graced the occasion as guests of honour.
SSP Awantipora Ajaz Ahmad Zargar inaugurated the Digital Mela, accompanied by other dignitaries, as they explored stalls showcasing various online services.
The chief guest was warmly welcomed by Principal GDC Pampore and senior faculty members, officials told Kashmir Reader.
The Department of Physical Education and Sports presented a guard of honour, setting the tone for the event. Professor Aliya extended a warm welcome to the guests, including SSP Ajaz Ahmad Zargar, SDPO, faculty members, participants, and students. She provided insights into the installed stalls and invited students to present the college Tarana, which resonated beautifully under the supervision of Prof. Irtiza, the Head of the Music Department.
The Principal delivered an inaugural address, officially welcoming the chief guest with a bouquet. She emphasized the significance of digital initiatives for the benefit of the common people and highlighted the various programs conducted during Digital Week.
The program continued with a soulful solo song by Mohammad Asif, a student of the college, followed by Dr. Shabir Hussain Lone, Head of Chemistry, who provided valuable information about e-services available in higher education. He detailed portals such as Samarth, academic bank of credits, online feedback, and more. The students also added cultural flair to the event with a mesmerizing rouf dance performance.
Wahid, another student, presented on the user-friendly nature of e-services, sharing insights into digital portals like JKKN, e-pathshala, and Digilocker. Sakeena Nisar discussed the importance of e-services in contemporary times.
The chief guest, SSP Ajaz Ahmad Zargar, delivered a presidential address, acknowledging J&K’s elite status in digital initiatives and commending the stalls and student performances. He thanked the college’s Principal for the invitation. The event concluded with the felicitation of the winning students who participated in various events throughout the week-long digital celebration.
SSP Ajaz Ahmad Zargar highlighted the significance of over 1000 IT-enabled initiatives and online services celebrated during Digital Week, aimed at raising awareness among the public. The event showcased the potential of digital technologies to revolutionize education and services in the region, leaving attendees inspired and informed.
“From past week various programmes have been organised in GDC Pampore to create awareness about digital literacy which came to culmination today,” the SSP said.
Meanwhile, the spirit of Digital Week-2023 came alive at the Townhall Pampore too where an enlightening Digital Mela awareness programme unfolded. Various government departments gathered to showcase their online schemes and onboard beneficiaries, emphasizing the importance of digital literacy among the public.
Tehsildar Pampore, Zuber Ahmad Bhat, Executive Officer Municipal Committee Pampore, and Mohammad Iqbal Bhat were among the notable officials present at the Digital Mela.
The Digital Mela served as a platform for line departments to demonstrate their online schemes, thus bridging the gap between government services and the citizens they serve. It was a testament to the commitment of local authorities to harness the power of technology for the benefit of the public.
The Townhall Pampore event stood as a shining example of collaborative efforts towards a digitally empowered future.
