11 others injured, 9 referred to Srinagar for advanced treatment: Official

Pampore: An elderly man who was coming from Srinagar hospital after treatment was killed while 11 others were injured in a road accident in the Tral area of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Thursday.
BMO Sub District Hospital Tral Dr Zahoor Ahmad confirmed to Kashmir Reader that one person was killed and eleven others were injured some of them critically. We received a total of 12 injured persons while 8 were referred to Srinagar hospitals for advanced treatment, he said.
He identified the as 67-year-old Assad Ullah Bhat, son of Ghulam Mohammad Bhat, a resident of Shareefabad Tral.
The deceased, as per reports, was coming from a Srinagar hospital where he was operated a few days back. He was travelling in a WagonR vehicle with his two sons and son-in-law who too were critically injured in the accident, a local resident told Kashmir Reader.
As per police officials, the accident took place between two vehicles – a Tavera vehicle bearing registration number JK13G-9456 and a WagonR bearing registration number JKOIV-1921. Both had a collision at Nowdal Tral, resulting in injuries to 12 persons.
The locals immediately rushed to the spot and started a rescue operation. Later, a team of Police Station Tral led by SHO Manzoor Ahmad also reached the site of the accident and joined the rescue operation. 12 passengers with severe injuries were rescued and shifted to Sub District Hospital (SDH) Tral for medical treatment where from nine were injured, some of them seriously, were referred to different Srinagar hospitals where Asad Ullah Bhat was declared as brought dead by the doctors, police officials told Kashmir Reader.
The injured have been identified as Driver Tanveer Bilal Ahmed Bhat, Raja Noorul Huda son of Raja Ghulam Ahmad, Rutba Zara wife of Raja Noorul Huda, Fayaz Ahmad son of Ghulam Ahmad, Showkat Ahmad Bhat son of Mohammad Ramzan Bhat, Iqra Jan, Bazala Jan, Javaid Ahmad Reshi son of Nasir Ahmad Reshi, Assad Ullah Bhat son Ghulam Mohammad, Iqra Jan daughter of Abdul Qayoom Shah, Tariq Ahmad son Assad Ullah Bhat, Bilal Ahmad Bhat son of Mohammad Yousuf Bhat and Farooq Ahmad Bhat son of Assad Ullah Bhat all the injured person from different areas of Sub Division Tral.
The body of the deceased was handed over to the family members for last rites.
“We have registered a case FIR number 98/2023 under relevant sections of law at Police Station Tral for further investigations,” SHO, Tral Manzoor Ahmad told Kashmir Reader.
