National Sports Day celebrated in Pampore, 230 students participate

Pampore: The National Sports Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm and fervor at Iqbal Stadium Tanchibagh in Saffron Town Pampore wherein a large number of students participated and carried out various sports activities on Tuesday.
Municipal Committee Pampore Chairman Malik Yaqoob, SHO Pampore Jazib Mohammad Bhat, Syed Masarat Hussain Andrabi, Sajjan Ahmad Bhat and other guests attended the event. A large number of students, teachers and other Municipal Committee employees participated in the event.
Earlier, guests interacted with students and extended appreciation for their outstanding performance in sports and urged them to motivate others to inculcate sports habits in their lives.
Youth Services and Sports Zone Pampore in collaboration with Municipal Committee Pampore celebrated National Sports Day to pay tributes to Major Dhyan Chand, the Wizard of Hockey on his birth anniversary who made an exemplary contribution to Indian Hockey, on National Sports Day.
“Sports not only develop a sense of friendliness and team spirit but also help to develop physical toughness and mental health. Sports bring everyone together, and through sports, we can create a healthy society,” ZPEO Pampore Syed Masarat Hussain told Kashmir Reader.
The Sports Day involved a huge participation of more than 230 students Boys and girls of different government and private Schools across the Zone Pampore and Pulwama. It was a day filled with fervour and excitement experienced amidst thrills, shrills and cheers, he said.
Speaking on the occasion, the Chairman MC Pampore Mohammad Yaqoob Malik highlights the importance of sports in a child’s life. He also congratulated the entire staff of the ZPEO Pampore for organising various sports events on National Sports Day. He appreciated the efforts of the ZPEO Pampore Syed Masarat Hussain Andrabi.
Speaking on the occasion, ZPEO Pampore encouraged the children to participate in games and sports activities and live a healthy life. He requested the parents to support their children in pursuing sports as a career.
The students displayed a wide array of energetic and bouncy sports events. They mesmerized the audience with their energetic performance. The students of the four different groups competed against each other in sports events like basketball, volleyball, futsal relay races, 100 metres races, 200 metres races, and kindergarten kids also participated in fun games like sack races, marble and spoon races, recreational games, self-defence training for girls.
Apart from the non-participating students, the parents too cheered for their children.
At the end of the event, the guests and other officials of the department distributed the medals among the winners, Physical Education Teacher Mohammad Ashraf Bhat told Kashmir Reader. He also thanked everyone for their presence and support and congratulated the students for their exceptional performances.
