Ensure no hate speech in rallies: SC

New Delhi/Gurgaon: The Supreme Court on Wednesday asked the authorities to ensure that nobody indulges in hate speech or violence during rallies that the Bajrang Dal and Vishwa Hindu Parishad held in Delhi demonstrating against the Haryana violence. At least six people were killed in the communal flare-ups that first erupted in Haryana’s Nuh on Monday and then spread to Gurgaon on Tuesday. Nuh police have arrested 116 people and registered 44 FIRs.
Promising strict action against the culprits, Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar said those found guilty will not be spared. “Six people including two home guards and four civilians have died in the incident. 116 people have been arrested till now. Their remand is being taken. We are committed to the safety of the public. The overall situation in the state is normal. Appeal to the public to maintain peace, calm and brotherhood,” he added.
Gurgaon ACP (crime) Varun Dahiya said the schools, colleges and offices in the district are functioning normally. Even as the internet services are operational, he appealed to people to stay away from rumours on social media but to use helpline number ‘112’ if they want to give any information to the police. Promising strict action against the culprits, On Tuesday, a mosque was set on fire in a Gurgaon locality and the naib imam stabbed to death by a mob past midnight Monday, police said. One person was also injured in the incident. In the afternoon, shops in Gurgaon’s Badshahpur area were set on fire.
