Pampore: A massive drive against wild bhang cultivation launched by the Tehsil administration continued in the Saffron Town Pampore area of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district.
A joint team of the revenue department along with the Horticulture and Agriculture departments and Municipal Committee Pampore carried out a massive drive against wild bhang on the Srinagar-Pulwama road at Patalbagh Pampore on Monday.

Talking to Kashmir Reader, Tehsildar Pampore Zuber Ahmad Bhat said the joint team destroyed bhang on 100 kanals of land during the last 10 days in Karnabal, Samboora, Patalbagh, Galander and other adjoining areas.
“The drive was started ten days ago during which we destroyed bhang growing wildly along roadsides and canals,” he said, adding that during the drive more than 100 kanals of land have been cleared from wild cultivation of bhang.
The Tehsildar said they will carry on the drive till they destroy all wild bhang in the area.
“My appeal to local residents is that they should destroy wild bhang growing on their land or around their houses by themselves because it is their moral duty to save youth from drugs,” he said.
The local residents of the area have appreciated the administration, especially Tehsildar Pampore, for carrying out the wild bhang drives in the area. Irshad Ahmad Dar, a local resident of Patalbagh village, told Kashmir Reader that they appreciate the local administration for taking this step.
