PAMPORE: A newborn leopard cub was rescued by wildlife officials of Khrew Range in Khrew village of the Pampore area of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Wednesday.
The leopard cub was saved under the supervision of Range Officer Khrew Range Shahid Sultan.
Reports said that villagers from the Bathina area noticed a leopard cub in the village and informed the wildlife department.
The wildlife department team immediately reached there and took the cub into custody.
The officials told Kashmir Reader that they received information regarding the newborn leopard cub in the residential area at Bathina village, following which they sent teams to save it, he said, adding that the cub was fed at range office Khrew.
Wildlife Ranger Range Office Khrew Shahid Sultan told Kashmir Reader that one newborn leopard cub was rescued from the Bathina area of Khrew wildlife range in one of the grass storage sheds. Thereafter the cub was brought to Control room Khrew and was bottle fed after consulting the veterinarian and subsequently, the cub was released back into the forest area, he said.
