PAMPORE: An outreach activity was organized by the NCORD/Anti-Tobacco Committee of the Government Degree College Pampore to check the sale of narcotics and tobacco products within 100 meters radius of the college campus. The NSS unit of the college also participated in the activity.
The rally was flagged off by the principal, Prof. Dr. Huda Galzai. The main aim of the activity was to sensitize the shopkeepers about the harmful effects of narcotics and tobacco items and the action warranted under rules in case the shopkeepers who are within a radius of 100 meters of any educational institution sell these prohibited items, GDC officials told Kashmir Reader.
The outreach began at the college and ended at ITI Pampore. The students interacted with all the shopkeepers in the vicinity and demonstrated to them the ill effects of tobacco and tobacco products.
Prof. Shah Lateef and Dr. Shabir Hussain Lone accompanied the students during the activity. The posters that were displayed by the students during the rally were later on pasted at all desirable locations in the vicinity of the shops.
