Devotees overwhelmed to witness traditional Hindu-Muslim brotherhood
PAMPORE: Army’s 50 Rashtriya Rifles organised a langer and medical camp for devotees at the annual Mata Jawala Ji festival in Khrew Pampore area of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district.
Thousands of Kashmiri Pandits from Jammu and Kashmir and other parts of the country thronged the famous Shri Jawala Ji temple Khrew to attend the annual festival locally known as Haar Tshodah.
Army officials, officers and jawans paid their obeisance at the shrine to mark the birthday of Mata Jawala Ji. Local Muslims of Khrew and adjoining areas also participated in the festival and greeted the Pandit community.
About 3500 devotees from the Union Territory and other parts of the country visited the Jawala Ji Temple in the last two days to attend the annual festival.
The festival radiated a divine aura as the devotees and the troops hymned devotional songs, recited shlokas and performed customary rituals and prayers.
Yellow rice, locally known as Taehar, was also offered to the deity during the festival as part of the tradition. 50 RR and Jawala Mata Committee organised Bhandara from at the temple premises and distributed prasad to 3500 devotees who attended the celebration, officials said.
A medical camp was also organised by 50RR on the occasion to provide medical assistance to the devotees. Local shopkeepers had put up stalls for providing water and other comforts for the devotees along the flight of stairs leading to the temple.
The locals appreciated the efforts of the Army’s 50 RR for organising langer and other medical facilities for devotees.
Ravi Ji Bhat General Secretary Swami Jeewan Sahib Mandir Prabandhak Trust Ladhoo, Mandir Committees and devotees and Karsrvaks appreciated the services of Army’s 50 RR Unit Shar Shali who recently painted and decorated the Temple Bhavan and provided Medical facilities and Langar for Yatris visiting the Shrine.
The devotees were also overwhelmed to see the traditional Hindu-Muslim brotherhood, as People’s Welfare Trust Khrew headed by Rayees Ahmad also distributed water bottles and juice to the devotees visiting the shrine to foster communal harmony.
