District Pulwama Pencak Silat Championship concludes

Pampore bags first position, Tral 2nd and Pulwama 3rd

PAMPORE: The 8th Pencak Silat Championship concluded at Government Degree College Pampore on Saturday.
The two-day Penchak Silat championship was organised by the Pencak Silat Association of Pulwama under the banner of J&K Penchak Silat Association held in Government Degree College Pampore. It was inaugurated by Army’s 50 RR second in Commandant Rajeev Bharti who was chief guest on the occasion.
Around 300 players both boys and girls from various parts of the district Pulwama participated in the championship.
Bashir Ahmad Bhat, Manager Sports Stadiums Pulwama, was the chief guest, while Adv Arif Masoodi, Ashiq Hussain sports officers and others were guests of honour at the closing function. Organiser Sajad Ahmad Bhat, and other members were also present on the occasion.
During the closing ceremony, the chief guest and the guests of honour interacted with the organiser and participating players.
The parents and other participants from Pampore and adjoining areas praised Sajad Ahmad Bhat for organising the event.
Speaking on the occasion, Adv Arif Masoodi congratulated all participating students and organisers of the event. He expressed his happiness for the successful conduct of the tournament. He congratulated the winners and urged the participants to work hard to make their mark in the sports arena.
Pampore bagged the first position followed by Tral and Pulwama bagged second and third positions respectively in the Pulwama Pencak Silat Championship held at Government Degree Collage Pampore.
The winners of this championship will be shortlisted for the forthcoming State and National level championships held this year.
The chief guest and other guests distributed medals among the players.
