MP Hasnain Masoodi tours Tral, travels 10 km by foot

Visits Bugmud, explores road opening between Lehandajan-Pahalgam and Bugmud-Bathnoor

PAMPORE: Member Parliament, Anantnag Lok Sabha constituency and National Conference senior leader Justice (Retd.) Hasnain Masoodi on Thursday visited Khankah-e-Faiz-Panah Tral, GDC Tral, Health Centre Bathnoor and Ziyarat of Hazrat Ameer Kabeer RA Bugmud. People of these areas met the MP and informed him about the demands of their areas.
During the Bugmud Bathnoor visit where he explored opening a 7 km road between the uper reaches Lahandajan Pahalgam and Bugmud Bathnoor area of Sub Division Tral.
Masoodi said the work on several kilometers of this road from the Lahandajan Pahalgam side has been completed and the survey on the project from the Tral side is on board. He expressed hope that the DPR of said road project will be prepared soon, after that a road will be constructed between Tral and Lahandajan Pahalgam which will reduce the distance of 40 kilometers from Srinagar to Pahalgam.
He said that this road connecting the upper reaches of Pahalgam is safe and can also be used as an alternative road for pilgrimage.
During his visit to Bugmud he visited around 10 kilometers up and down on foot to travel Bugmud Bathnoor to listen to people.
Talking to Kashmir Reader at Bugmud, Hasnain Masoodi told that he has been looking to open a road between Lehandajan Pahalgam and Sringara through Bugmud Bathnoor from the very beginning.
“I have been looking for connecting Lehandajan Bugmud Bathnoor. I acquired a survey report which has been done on this and then took up the issue on the floor of the Parliament. This will be only 70-kilometre road between Srinagar and Pahalgam,” he said, adding that this road will cut 40 kilometers of distance between Srinagar and Pahalgam.
The MP said this road will start from Lehandajan through Bathnoor, Syedabad, Wahab Sahab and Khrew and then connect with Srinagar. “This road will be quite safe and far from the threat of floods and will give a boost to tourism,” he said.
Masoodi said that Tral area is underdeveloped and deprived of employment avenues and progress. This road will open doors of development and employment for Tral residents, he said.
The MP also saod that the first and foremost important job is to have a DPR for the road. “I wrote a letter to the Principal Secretary Roads and Building and suggested that a DPR for the road be prepared. The next thing will be to mobilise funds for the road,” he said, adding that this road is a dream for a huge chunk of the population and he wants that their dream gets fulfilled.
“This route was used by Mir Syed Ali Hamadani around 700 years ago from Pahalgam to Srinagar during which he stayed at Bugmud for some time and offered prayers there,” Masoodi said.
