Kulgam: Continuing its drive against the social crimes, Police in Kulgam arrested four gamblers and seized stake money from their possession.
“Acting on specific information regarding gambling activities in the jurisdiction of Police Post Mirbazar, a police party headed by Incharge PP Mirbazar raided the suspected gambling site at Furrah and apprehended four gamblers on the spot. They have been identified as Shahnawaz Ahmad Lone on of Bashir Ahmad Lone resident of Malpora, Javed Ahmad Mir son of Mohd Amin Mir resident of Furrah, Nisar Ahmad Khanday son of Ghulam Ahmad Khanday and Imtiyaz Ahmad Wani son of Abdul Aziz Wani both residents of Zadoora,” police said.
“Officers have seized stake money of Rs 46,000, four mobile phones and a set of playing cards from their possession. They have been shifted to police station where they remain in custody,” it added.
Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 93/2023 under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police station Qazigund and investigation has been taken up.
“People found indulging in criminal activities shall be dealt as per law. Community members are requested to share information regarding the crimes in their neighbourhood with the local police units,” police said.
