Police arrest shopkeeper for ‘illegally selling petroleum products on exorbitant rates’

Baramulla: Police in Baramulla have arrested a shopkeeper for being involved in selling of petroleum products on exorbitant rates at Uri.
A police party led by SHO PS Uri under the supervision of SDPO Uri Shri Shokat Ali-JKPS, arrested a shopkeeper identified as Ajaz Ahmad Awan son of Bashir Ahmad Awan resident of Salamabad Uri for his involvement in selling of Petroleum products on exorbitant rates at his shop at Salamabad Uri. Officers also recovered 1020 litres of Diesel from his shop. He has been arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody, police said.
Accordingly, a case under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Uri and investigations have been initiated.
“Community members have hailed the efforts of police for their quick and vigilant action against such persons. Police has assured the community members that Police is resolved to act tough against the individuals involved in criminal activities,” police said.
