GDC Sumbal organises blood donation camp

Sumbal: The NSS Unit of GDC Sumbal organized a Blood Donation Camp in the college on Wednesday. The camp was organized in collaboration with the District Hospital Bandipora.
The inaugural function was presided over by the Principal of the college, Prof. (Dr.) Shabeena Iqbal Shawl; Mr. Aamir Choudhary, SDM Sumbal, was the chief guest on the occasion.
Welcoming the audience, Dr. Mehraj Hajini, staff secretary of the college, elaborated on the fact that serving humanity was the noblest of the deeds a man can perform.
In her message, the Principal emphasized the role played by the NSS Unit in not only looking after the infrastructure of the college & maintaining discipline there but also in organizing & conducting the different co-curricular & extracurricular activities in the institution.
Dr. Riffat Basharat, NSS Program Officer, gave an overview of the activities being conducted by the NSS Unit of the college.
In his address, SDM Sumbal remarked that the distinguishing trait of humans was to think beyond their own selves & for the welfare of the whole community. Showkat Ahmad Parray, BMO Hajin, made it abundantly clear to the audience that, contrary to the myths associated with it, donating blood had myriad physical benefits.
The Gender Audit Report of the college was also released on the occasion. Certificates of appreciation were also given to the students who started off the camp by donating their blood.
Prof. Manzoor Ahmad Parey acted as Rapporteur and Dr. Aabida Akthar proposed the vote of thanks.
Twenty persons donated their blood, including the faculty, staff and students of the college. In total, twenty (20) points of blood were collected by the medical team.
