Srinagar: The Department of Youth Services and Sports, District Srinagar kick-started a sports week for senior citizens at BHSS Khonmoh with the aim of bringing back the culture of games and sports back to communities.
It is organised by ZPEO Amirakadal under the banner of ‘Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav’ wherein 25 participants took part in multiple events viz. Carom, Table Tennis & Tug of War.
Principal BHSS Khonmoh Shabina Kyser was the chief guest on the occasion and she insisted on the role of sports in our lives. The participants were very enthusiastic and anxious in the competition.
“After a long period of time, we have had a striker or a bat in our hand and we feel the days of our adulthood,” said one of the participants.
The Department of Youth Services & Sports is organising such programmes across the UT and the programmes are having good feedbacks.
Convenor of the event Mir Fayaz PEM BHSS Khonmoh thanked all the senior citizens for making it a vibrant day.
