Army organises Green Indus Initiative

SRINAGAR: Indian Army as part of Green India initiative under the aegis of Fire and Fury Corps organised a tree plantation drive on April 21, 2023. The drive was spearheaded by Headquarters Leh Sub Area in collaboration with Community Members, Go Green Go Organic NGO and the forest department of UT of Ladakh.
The drive is being carried out in two phases. In phase one, 40,000 tree saplings are being planted from Lamayuru to Karu and in the second phase 40,000 saplings will be planted from Nyoma to Koyul, PRO defence said in a statement.
The drive was inaugurated on 21 April 2023 by General Officer Commanding, Leh Sub Area and 5,000 tree saplings was planted on the bank of Indus River near Phey village, Phyang village, Spituk village and Leh. The overall aim of the drive is to promote greenery in Ladakh and enhancing the beauty and balance of the environment.
