NIT’s MED hosts farewell meeting with outgoing Director Prof. Sehgal

SRINAGAR: The Department of Mechanical Engineering, National Institute of Technology (NIT) Srinagar on Wednesday hosted a farewell cum strategic planning meeting with outgoing Director Prof. (Dr.) Rakesh Sehgal.
The official meeting cum farewell started with the formal introduction from Head MED Prof. Adnan Qayoum. He welcomed all dignitaries and expressed his gratitude on behalf of the department of Mechanical Engineering to outgoing Director NIT Prof. Sehgal for immense support for the welfare of the department.
On the occasion, Director NIT Srinagar Prof.(Dr.) Rakesh Seghal thanked for the love and support from the Mechanical Engineering Department. As part of the department, I will always try to extend my every possible support and services to the MED in the near future as well, he said. “Since I am already connected with many projects, proposals and other research activities, it will be my honor to extend my service to MED that I consider my second home,” he said.
In his special message, Institute’s Registrar Prof. Syed Kaiser Bukhari said Prof. Sehgal’s dedication and commitment to excellence have been an inspiration to us all. “Your positive attitude, enthusiasm, and generosity of spirit have made a lasting impact on all of us. You have been a mentor, Director, and a role model, and we are truly grateful for the time we have spent with you,” he said.
In his special address, Prof. Adnan shared his nostalgic moment with Prof. Rakesh Sehgal during his tenure and earlier since 2016. Your support will undoubtedly make a significant impact.
‘During your tenure, your continued dedication and commitment to the cause are truly admirable and will undoubtedly inspire others to follow in your footsteps,” Prof. Adnan said.
Prof. Sehgal joined as Director NIT Srinagar in November 2017. During his tenure NIT Srinagar achieved many milestones including improvement in NIRF rankings from 239th rank in 2019 and 66th rank in 2022.
